Barb Schwartz has been documenting people for over
25 years as a newspaper and corporate staff photographer. Her work has been frequently published locally and nationally, and when not shooting, she teaches courses in photography in Columbus, Ohio. Starting out in fine art and documentary photography with an old Nikon that her father bought for $25, she quickly became enamored with the possibility of capturing the strength of the human spirit with her camera. It grew into a lifelong love of depicting personalities within the framework of a journalistic style. In a humanistic approach, Barb portrays all of her subjects, and the reality of their lives, with a keen eye and an obvious concern for their dignity and story. She works to create revealing and affirming portraits of people from all walks of life, from the less than fortunate to those that are very well known. This is a collection of some of her favorite work. In 2013, Barb opened HeadshotsColumbus.
